WordMark Chrome Extension

What WordMark does

WordMark is a browser extension that highlights words and phrases on web pages you visit. You create groups of words, assign colors and styles, and the extension visually marks those words as you browse.

Data storage

All data you create in WordMark — including your word groups, words, settings, schedules, and appearance preferences — is stored exclusively using Chrome's built-in sync storage (chrome.storage.sync).

This means:

• Your data lives in your own Google account's sync storage
• It syncs automatically across your Chrome/Edge browsers if you are signed in
• It is never sent to any WordMark server — because there is no WordMark server

Data we do NOT collect

WordMark does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to:

• Your browsing history or the URLs you visit
• The content of the pages you visit
• Personal information of any kind (name, email, location, etc.)
• Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
• Any data from the websites where highlights appear

Permissions explained

WordMark requests the following browser permissions:

• storage — to save your word groups and settings locally via Chrome sync
• tabs — to open the settings page when you click the extension icon
• Access to all websites — to inject highlights on any page you visit; no page content is read or transmitted

Third-party services

WordMark does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no ads, no trackers, and no external network requests made by the extension.

Children's privacy

WordMark does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this URL. Continued use of WordMark after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
